Most of our customers are pet parents. Conyers Fence Company is passionate about creating a safe environment for your pets to roam or play. We offer a variety of options that will keep your pet contained to your yard, as well as additional options on our standard fences to assist with pet-related problems.
Pet Behaviors Dogs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and each has their own personality and quirks that you may want to take into consideration as you look for a fence. We tend to ask pet parents about the size of their dogs, both their height and weight, as we help find the best solution. Behaviors also factor into the decisions. Some common behaviors include:
Digging
Jumping
Fence Aggression
Barking or growling
Pushing against the fence
Chewing
Best Fence Options for Dogs
Chain Link Fences
Our most popular product for dogs is chain link due to its strength, durability and affordable pricing. We offer 4'-, 5'- and 6'-tall residential galvanized or black vinyl-coated chain link. According to the size of your pup, you may opt for a taller fence to prevent them from jumping over the fence. For dogs that chew, we would recommend galvanized chain link in a heavier gauge wire (9 ga) to prevent them from chewing on the wire and messing up the fence.
Our black vinyl-coated chain link comes with tension wire at the bottom of the fence line to keep the lower section of the fence taut and make it more difficult for our doggos to dig or slip under the fence. The option is available for galvanized chain link fences as an add on.
Another option for chain link to prevent digging out is the addition of bottom rail. Made from the same 1 3/8" top rail material, bottom rail is placed between posts at the ground level as a deterrent for dogs that want to dig out. Where tension wire keeps the fence taut, bottom rail provides a structural barrier to keep your dog from escaping. Many boarding facilities and shelters have bottom rail to retain the dogs in their care.
Wood Fences
Wood picket fences are probably not your best product for a dog who wants to get out. While the pickets are not spaced wide enough for most dogs to slip through, picket fences are either 4'- or 5'-tall. For pups that jump, you may want to opt for a taller option. We do offer welded wire in addition to picket fencing, as pictured below, to help contain your pets.
Wood privacy fences are our best suggestion for dog parents as it meets almost all of their needs. They are 6'-tall and provide a continuous perimeter to your yard. Privacy fences butt up to the ground and are structurally firm, not giving when pushed on. For dogs that are fence aggressive or triggered by seeing what's going on in the world outside of the yard, wood privacy is going to be your best option to prevent barking.
Ornamental Fences
Our ornamental fences are available in 4'-, 5'-, or 6'-tall options and come in aluminum or steel construction, both of which provide a stable fence. Ornamental fencing provides a decorative look with a durable product. The panel styles are installed so that the pickets float just off the ground. If your dog likes to dig or is really small (picket spacing is 3.75" apart), this may not be the best option to help contain your dog to your yard.
